![]() ![]() He wanted to keep every bit of his interactions with Clem even if they made him sad or angry. Thinking about Joel and how he no longer wanted to forget broke my heart. Clem was his true genuine love but also tortured him in a way. I’d often excuse myself when it finished to cry alone in the bathroom. The movie captured me even in that young age. Instead of erasure I wish that when they did come back together they’d give it a try and when it got rough they’d work through it to see some type of progression instead of ending and starting the same way over and over. There was something beautiful about that because they would attempt again unknowingly. I loved that even though they hated each others enough to erase each other their love always found a way. I always felt like a Clementine and that made me so sad for guys I dated. Despite coming out in 2004, it's probably the best movie I've seen in 2023. I'd like to know what everyone else's thoughts might be on this movie. As someone who has trouble following movies that go between past and present, much less also future events and memories, I was never once lost, and I was fully engaged to the very end. This movie made me feel some complicated things indeed tonight, my friends. Without making this post any longer, the wife and I have had our fights, trials, tribulations, and even breaks before, but in that moment when Jim Carrey is yelling for the doctor to stop the procedure? Man, that's exactly how I'd be. I never really understood what it was about though. All I remembered was loving it when I was younger. Soon as I saw it, though, some impulsive part of me jumped front and center and insisted we watch it. Now, I'll admit, I had an edible before we started watching. Lo and behold, front and center, soon as the app loaded, there was Eternal Sunshine. Then, while browsing more movies, she pulled up Peacock, which I didn't remember we had. We first watched M3GAN, then cleansed the palette with Bob's Burgers and The Simpsons. Tonight, the wife and I decided to have a movie marathon to fill the evening. I never really understood what a goddamn masterpiece it was until tonight though. So, I watched it about a thousand times throughout middle school and high school. So, when I was a kid, we had this movie on VHS when I was like nine or ten.
